Billy Graham's Prayer Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 17 December 2008 16:49

The following is a prayer prayed by Billy Graham recently on a radio station in the USA which got the largest response of any item in the station’s history. I thought you may like to see it:

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbour's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!”

Dear Mike & Marion,

Please accept our very sincere thanks and appreciation for the kind gesture of providing us with your special message for the recent 70th birthday celebration and ministry recognition held here at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West. We highly value the efforts employed to bless us in this way. The almost 200 leaders from all over the country and beyond who honoured us with their presence has also applauded your comments and we as a family do appreciate the tributes extended to us.

I was truly humbled by the gesture of this most joyous occasion. The shock at how the whole project was initiated and coordinated without my knowledge has still not sunk in, but we do appreciate and admire the excellence with which is has been done. It certainly will remain a memorable occasion for us.

Be assured of our continued prayers for your life and ministry as we together pursue God’s purpose for our lives.

Please receive our best wishes for your family.

Sincere thanks,

Chris & Mary Lodewyk

UK atheist Wanted in Charles Darwin's birth place - Shrewsbury in February 09 to celebrate his 200th birthday. So far we have had personal refusals from prominent evolutionists Prof. Richard Dawkins, David Attenborough, Prof. Peter Atkins, and UK humanists Lewis Wolpert, and Polly Toynbee - seems they don't want to be seen in public debating John Mackay. Atheists can apply to UK organiser Randal Hardy email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Numbers 13:25-33

Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

AMP Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

1] We all want to live in God’s best

- the Gospel is a transforming Gospel

- live in the good and acc and perfect will of God

- live in the purposes of God for our lives

Misconceived Attempt to find Common Ground with Islam Print E-mail

Common Ground with Islam?

During this week 3rd to 7th November 2008, 48 Muslim and Catholic theologians are meeting in Rome in order to discuss a document elaborated last year by 138 senior Muslim scholars. The document, A Common Word Between Us and You, proclaims itself to be an attempt to find common ground between the two religions in order to bring peace to the world.

The thesis of A Common Word is essentially that Christians should come to agreement with Muslims that love of God and love of neighbour are the most important aspects of the two faiths and therefore instead of fighting one another, they should seek to outdo each other with good deeds.

Whilst at face value the treatise appears laudable, in actual fact it denies the most important aspects of Christianity and its mission. It is based on a verse from the Qur’an, namely sura 3:64, which denies the identity of our God, the divinity, Sonship and Lordship of Christ and defines us as in rebellion against the Muslim god if we reject these doctrines.

This Sunday we are blessed to have Pastor Chris Lodewyk with us again from South Africa at our 10:00am Sunday Morning service. Every time Pastor Chris has been with us has been a defining moment in the life of our church, and he has always encouraged us to more as a influential Church in our city and nation, and so we are very excited about what this Sunday will bring.

This is also a great opportunity to bring friends to church, as Pastor Chris is an anointed speaker with incredible influence in South Africa, as the Governor of The South African Forum of Charismatic and Pentecostal Leaders and also Chairperson of the South African Coalition for the Soccer World Cup being held in South Africa in 2010.

Pastor Chris has been ministering for over 40 years, founded many churches and ministries internationally, travels extensively and brings a wealth of wisdom and experience to the platform - so we are honoured to have this gift of God with us.

It's going to be a great Sunday and we can't wait to see you there!

Why I Developed a CAN DO Attitude

Matt 14:13-21

Eph 4:11-16

Every person has a default position or an autopilot

They run on your energy

Let them go because you can only prop up so many people for so long – falls apart because they didn’t learn the lesson God was teaching them that would take them to the next level in their life

They retaliate – control / manipulation, helping you is hurting me, feelings of rejection, don’t care etc

12 plus 2 Can Do’s

WHY I WANT TO GROW IN GOD

Eph 4:11-16

Take our example from Jesus – not the person sitting next to you:

Lk 2:40 - And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, F11 filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

52 - And Jesus increased [matured] in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

From the Word we learn that we can grow in many different ways:
